I noticed a problem. There are so many sites on the internet for creating a good resume and getting the dream job, but many of them are still using black and white boxy resume examples. Please! Before applying to that marketing internship, read these tips.
Make sure to fix an ugly or unorganized ResumeMarketing interns are largely handling social accounts, presentations, asset creation, writing, and a bunch of other formatting tasks. That means your attention to detail and eye for design is essential. You CV is pretty much your own personal advertisement, so if it's not up to standard as a Digital Marketing Manager I will doubt you’ll be able to create something for our business. Tips for Resume Creation for Marketing interns:
Create a Portfolio You might be thinking, ‘Betsy, I haven’t done anything I have no experience how can I have a portfolio?’. I totally get you, but if you are interested in writing or working in marketing on a professional level you should take the time to write and create for yourself. A portfolio doesn’t have to be a crazy million dollar production. A simple webpage with your CV, 5-10 graphics or creations, 5 or so blog posts about a relevant marketing topic, and your contact information is definitely enough to make an impression. If you want to go the extra mile, use the same banner image in your resume, portfolio and social profiles (more on that soon). Make yourself a Mission or Goal StatementA lot of people have an idea of where they want to go in their career but many people do not make that clear in their resume. A great mission statement or goal statement lets employers know what you want to learn and where you want to get to. Just to provide an example, I love when interns write that they want to learn a certain skill or program or skill and usually I will try my best to give them the opportunity to have some exposure to it. Class up your social profiles This is a similar message to the resume issue. If you can’t promote yourself on social, why would I want you to promote us on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc? Tips for your social profile marketing facelift
Read your cover letter out loud to the mirror and your momI hate to mention it, but if you can’t write at a native speaker level (or if you are a native speaker that can’t write) don’t apply for a marketing or blogging internship. Not only will it hurt your chances but most of the time if the writing sample is below par I immediately throw the entire application out. My advice is to read your cover letter to yourself in the mirror and your mom. Reading it to yourself in the mirror will help you fix word choice and grammar mistakes. Reading your cover letter to your mom will keep you honest and help you identify any bragging or false claims. Good luck to all the job hunters out there. If you happen to be in Munich, send your marketing internship CV to [email protected] to apply. Analyzing and optimizing many aspects of your marketing strategy are already established, but if you aren’t approaching Messenger Marketing with the same attitude, you are losing out on sales. If you are using a Messenger Marketing platform that doesn’t allow you to analyze all the way down to the single message level, you are using the wrong one for E-commerce. Around 49% of E-commerce is using marketing automation currently. That means almost half of the E-commerce world trusts chatbots to communicate with their customers which isn’t very surprising. Channels like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp have higher open and click-through rates and online retailers are leveraging this. It’s a good idea to know how you can too. 1: Know the Averages Your first step to some serious data driven Messenger Marketing is to make sure you are tracking the right things. Seems a bit straight forward but we’re starting from the very beginning. Out of the Box Metrics and What they Mean Open rate: Might sound straight forward, but that’s because it is! Open rate is the % of people who were sent the message that opened it. As mentioned before, this metric is not for people who are doing Facebook lead generation ads, but rather essential for broadcasts, sequences, etc. CTR: Click through rate is the % of subscribers that received the message that clicked on a link inside the message. Replies: Simple one here, this is the number of people who sent a reply outside of bot communication. The average open rate for a Messenger campaign is 90%, and the average CTR is around 33%. Don’t worry, if you are around the 20s it doesn’t mean you are failing, but it might mean that you are ready to tweak some copy, creative, call to actions, etc. With knowing messenger stats also comes knowing your companies average rates for emails, and comparing them. Messenger open, click-through and conversion rate Maybe your email newsletter has some great CTR, but your Messenger generates more sales and has higher CTR for abandoned cart reminders. Doesn’t mean you have to pick one or the other. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Why (and how) you should use Email and Messenger together As marketers, we want to offer as many channels for customers to interact with our brand. As more and more people are active on mobile, it makes sense to offer a mobile option. Another reason why you should use these two powerful channels together is that they feed each other. For example, on fashion brand did a very successful email-Messenger campaign that converted 2% of their email subscribers to Messenger. Why? Messenger customers are worth up to 3 euros more than an average email subscriber. 2: Know your vanity metrics and establish your KPIs
Metrics to Optimize for your LEad Generation CampaignLead Gen that recommends a product
3: Set up your conversionsConversions you need to set up:Finished quiz This is a commonly used custom conversion that lets you know how many users finished a quiz. If this number is low, you most likely either should set up retargeting for those (you can do this by subscribing them to a sequence in the chat), or change your chat copy. Subscribed to Sequence This is a custom conversion that can show you how many people were subscribed to a sequence based off of the flow. For example, if you ask someone if they like sports and say yes, you can subscribe them to your sports line sequence. To track the number of people who were subscribed to that, you can add a conversion in the chat flow that says “Sports Seq.”. This not only gives you a look into your Messenger customers but it also allows you to adjust your flow. If this number is low, you are probably missing the mark somewhere in the chat. Contact info gathered In a pretty straight-forward campaign for lead generation this might seem like a no-brainer, but setting up conversions that indicate which contact information you have can be really helpful for analyzing your bot. Add conversions within the chat so you know how many phone numbers, emails, etc you’ve gathered and optimise accordingly. Reached step ___ For many signups, subscriptions, and even E-commerce stores there are steps. Maybe step one is to interact with your Facebook page, step two to do something on the website, step 3 to purchase. These steps can be measured with custom conversions. 4: Read reports correctly Check out this video where Digital Marketer and Messenger Marketing provider Betsy Nelson covers these basics of reading reports:
5: A/B TEST these Four Things
Summing it Up You get the idea. Messenger is great but just reading about it will not get you anywhere. Save time with marketing automation and connect with your customers better. Head over to chatchamp to explore it yourself. In January of 2018, Russia shipped what they claimed to be the first international commodity trade that was paid for in crypocurrency to Turkey. The shipment of Wheat was sent to Samsun using Bitcoin allegendly cut opperation costs. Is growing Russian interests in Bitcoin another politically motivated move to push Turkey away from the United States? It possibly could be.
Other than making every Bitcoin investor jump with joy, does Russia using crypocurrency connect to their foreign policy interests? Besides cutting a lot of red tape and lowering costs, international commodity trading might see a bump in Bitcoin usage because of consumer confidence in Blockchain and Russian support. Using crypocurrency might coax Turkey away from her American ally. The internationally accepted currency for commodity trading up to this point has been the Dollar, giving the United States a lot of sway. Hikes in the value of U.S. currency might be detramental to Turkish economic interests considering the country’s extensive history with currency manipulation. With the Turkish Lira currently standing 3.8 to the dollar, a change in currency value could be detrimental to Turkish economic interests. If the international community agreed to crypocurrency like Bitcoin as the new medium for this sector it could, eventually, be a blow to the United States. Another reason for Russia to support crypocurrency in the international community is the possibility of using it to get around international sanctions. Venezuala and North Korea are countries under U.S. sanctions that already use crypocurrency. Though international sanctions reduce access of countries to the international trade and financial system, support of crypocurrency in the international community could lead to an easy workaround which would be a huge change in the U.S.’s bargaining power. While cryptocurrency has its skeptics, there is no longer a question of if it will be used but rather the question is to what extent it will be used to take the middle man, the United States, out of the equation of international commodity trading. For Russia, investing in crypocurrency might be the next step towards influencing Turkey’s relationship with the United States. “Websites promote you 24/7: No employee will do that.” ― Paul Cookson Big or small, often the first thing a potential customer sees from your business is your website. It’s true, to have a professional, interactive, captivating website, you need a professional website designer. That in mind, Big Gorilla Design sat down and wrote out our top 5 tips to making your small business website design stand out from the crowd. #1 Never Forget Your Customer When discussing your small business’ web site design with your designer, keep your target customers in mind. Web designers are professionals that know how to make a site that will capture and hold attention, but it is still important to keep your customers in mind when outline the wants and needs for your new site. Being clear with your website designer from the start about how you want your website to function. If you are, you are guaranteed to get the results you’re looking for. For example, are you looking for customers to be able to buy product directly from the web? Are you especially interested in highlighting your small businesses story in your website design? Mentioning these types of interests helps you and your designer come up with the most appropriate design. We recommend doing some brainstorming first! #2 Ditch the Stock Photos and Think Colors Spending the time any money on professional photos for your website can make your small business really stand out from the crowd. Ask yourself this, why spend all that time making your website and product look appealing and attractive and then put a picture of two strangers drinking coffee above it? Not only does taking original photos look more professional, but it can help grow your brand and connect with your customers. Having professional photos taken helps tell your story and highlight the uniqueness of your brand. Additionally, having original photos also can help you grow your presence on social media sites that use a lot of visual media like Instagram and Pinterest, so it’s a win-win! Next, when talking with your designer, consider your brand’s colors while keeping color psychology in mind. If you’re interested in reading more about that, check out this article, which explains how different colors impact buyers as well as how to use different colors in a small business website design. #3 Interactive Sites Keep Customers Engaged. “Great web design without functionality is like a sports car with no engine.” ― Paul Cookson Having a website that is clean and engaging helps attract customers, grow your following on social media, and more. Of course your website designer knows this, but it is important for small businesses not to shy away from a design just because it is interactive. Having an interactive website design for your small business can also help you reach out to your buyers as well as get feedback. It has also been proven in various studies that interactivity of a website design leads to a sense on credibility. #4 Keep updating, posting, and engaging on other sites as well. One reason why talking a professional when getting your small business web design up and running is because they can help you keep your website updated. While they are there to help, you can also keep things interesting by using social media and blogs to keep bringing potential customers to your website. Cross posting on your website and your social media helps keep customers engaged and informed. #5 Talk to the Pros “If you think math is hard, try web design.” -Trish Parr We understand, there are so many free website builders around these days, but small business website design is something you really should leave to the professionals.
